Weekly collection of household garbage and recyclables is a service provided by the Village of Whitesboro. The cost of fees at the Oneida County Solid Waste Management Authority are paid for entirely through the sale of yellow garbage bags. In this way, you pay for what you throw out; you are not paying (through taxes) for someone else's trash removal.
Some things to remember: 1. Put into a yellow bag (available at several Whitesboro Retail Stores) any household garbage or trash that will fit into a bag. There is a 60 lb. weight limit per bag. 2. Buy a $5.00 sticker for any large items such as, but not limited to, appliances, couches, rugs, furniture, hot water tanks, toilets, T.V.'s, etc. These stickers are available at the Village Office, 10 Moseley Street. 3. Buy a $3.00 sticker if you have a tire to get rid of. Be sure the tire is off the rim. 4. Recyclable Newspaper must be put in a neat pile and tied or put in a clear plastic bag. Recyclable plastic and glass must be put in a clear plastic bag. 6. Cardboard boxes must be broken down and tied. 7. Do not mix paper items with plastic and or glass items.
IMPORTANT: Plastic Oil Containers (for cars), Transmission Oil, Coolant, etc. are not recyclable. Please put in your normal yellow bag.
Paint cans (latex only) can be put out if they are empty and cleaned. Tie together and put next to your yellow bags-not in them.
Don't put garbage out earlier than 4:00 P.M. (winter), 6:00 P.M. (summer) the evening before it is to be collected.
Do report to the Police if you observe someone stopping their car to deposit trash on your property.
